STARTING YOUR FREE 3-DAY TRIAL CLASS
You won’t need to worry about what to wear since a uniform will be provided for you although a compression shirt (or rashguard) to wear under the GI is always best practice. We recommend flip-flops to be used off the mats. Do not forget to bring a water bottle and a positive attitude!
Maintaining good hygiene is essential before stepping on the mats. Take a quick shower, keep your nails short, and freshen up before class. Doing so keeps training clean, safe, and comfortable for everyone.
For the best training experience, have a light, balanced meal about one to two hours beforehand. Choose simple, easy-to-digest foods so you have energy without feeling heavy.
GETTING READY FOR YOUR FIRST BJJ CLASS
ARRIVING AT YOUR FIRST CLASS
It’s best to arrive about 15 - 20 minutes early to familiarize yourself with the gym and introduce yourself to the instructors. It is a great opportunity to know more about them and for us to get a better idea of your goals.
Especially for kids, arriving earlier has a huge impact on their experience and will make them feel comfortable in the new environment with new people.
All students complete a standard waiver before training. It’s simply a safety form to make sure everyone understands the nature of physical activity in Jiu-Jitsu. Our instructors always emphasize safety and proper technique, and if you ever have concerns, just let us know—we’ll work with you to ensure you feel comfortable on the mats.
